Former Louisiana lobbyist focus of child porn charges

A former Louisiana state liquor lobbyist is the focus of child porn charges that he claims are "selective and vindictive." The former lobbyist is the brother of the former Jefferson Parish president.

The former lobbyist is being prosecuted in Baton Rouge U.S. District Court. He claims that he is being prosecuted because he refused to cooperate in a federal corruption probe.

He was indicted by a federal grand jury in May on possession and distribution of child pornography charges. The indictment claims that he forwarded videos of boys engaged in sex acts with donkeys to friends, family and clients in both 2013 and 2015.

Hearings were held in September and October where the former lobbyist pleaded to have the charges dropped. The judge presiding over the case has yet to issue a ruling on the case.

"Rhetoric aside, the former lobbyist knows that he is being prosecuted because he engaged in illegal child sexual exploitation by repeatedly distributing, over a two-year period of time, graphic child pornography bestiality videos to his friends, family, clients and colleagues," a statement from prosecutor's office said.

The government said that simply because the former lobbyist claims he had no lustful feelings when he distributed the porn does not mean he shouldn't be prosecuted.

"Subsequent forensic analysis revealed that he distributed child pornography bestiality videos, on 33 separate occasions, to 38 different individuals," the prosecutor's office said.

In his testimony in federal court, the former lobbyist claimed that he forwarded the videos on his phone as a crude joke and that he did not solicit them.

The former lobbyist claims that the government wanted him to take part in what he dubbed "a fishing expedition for public corruption," which he refused to join. He then claimed that because he failed to take part, the government decided to come after him with child porn charges.
