Avoid the dangers of holiday shopping

Increasingly, Louisiana residents, like many people worldwide, are choosing to do their shopping online rather than drive to the nearest mall or outlet stores. However, many of us make an exception as the holidays approach. There's something about the festively-decorated stores and tempting bargains that make dealing with the crowds and the traffic worthwhile.

Fatal accident highlights dangers of amusement rides

Many of you likely heard about the tragic fatal accident that occurred recently at the Ohio State Fair when the Fire Ball ride malfunctioned. Seats came off of the spinning ride, sending an 18-year-old young man to his death and injuring seven more people, including one as young as 14. Some were struck by flying debris from the malfunctioning ride.

What can I do if I was hurt in a Louisiana store?

People shop every day without giving too much thought to the process. Whether you are grocery shopping, picking out a gift for someone or finding something to wear, finding what you want for a reasonable price is perhaps all you are really thinking about.

Keep yourself safe this Mardi Gras season

While other areas of the country are snowed in and contemplating six more weeks of wintry weather, we in south Louisiana are getting our ladders out of the attic and dusting off our lawn chairs in anticipation of the best free party of all - Mardi Gras.

Slip and fall on bus leads to lawsuit

Usually when you hear the word "premises" you think of a building or stationary structure. Add that in with "liability," and you probably think of an old, dilapidated building with dangerous conditions that pose a threat to anyone. What you probably wouldn't consider when you hear "premises" is your local bus.

Spilled liquid causes slip and fall, man files lawsuit

One of the most unrecognized ways that an accident or injury can completely change someone's life is a slip and fall incident. These fall under the legal idea of premises liability, which is the notion that a property manager, business owner, or liable party involved with a piece of real estate or building must ensure that their premises is safe for patrons, guests and other people. If the premises is unsafe and someone suffers an injury as a result of the unsafe premises, then they can be held liable by the injured party.
